Francisca Kachler is a Los Angeles based documentary film and television editor and producer with over 15 years of experience. Her latest project "Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes" marks her 9th collaboration with award winning documentary filmmakers Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey. Previous projects include: Emmy nominated Stonewall Outloud,"Feedia Got a Gun" which premiered at AFI Docs festival in 2020 and was awarded the freedom award at the 2020 Outfest film festival, and the Emmy nominated documentary “Mapplethorpe: Look at the pictures" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, had a strong film festival run, and later aired on HBO.
Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Francisca fell in love with the craft while studying film at San Diego State University, where she earned a B.S in Telecommunications and Film. After moving to Los Angeles in 2005, she has continually worked in television and film, cutting Emmy nominated programs such as Million Dollar Listing, New York, Ru Paul’s drag race, and Helter Skelter, An American Myth directed by academy award winner director Lesley Chilcott. Francisca's extensive resume includes television shows for Epix, Netflix, Bravo, NBC, History Channel, and HBO. It is her passion for people and storytelling that drives her and pushes her to grow as an editor and share stories in compelling new ways.
She taught Film editing as an adjunct professor at Palomar Community College, and misses that job every day. But not the commute.
